These two benefits combined are designed to provide you with a cost effective plan to obtain the prescription needs for you and your family.

The plan is unique because it combines a fully insured generic co-pay prescription card, insured by Companion Life Insurance Company, with a powerful International Mail Order Pharmacy program. The insurance portion of the plan, makes available generic prescriptions at a very low co-pay amount.  The mail order program provides co-pays for name brand drugs.

Generic Prescription Insurance
The insured portion of the SaveNow Rx Plan is underwritten by Companion Life Insurance Company of South Carolina. The benefits allow members to purchase most of their generic medications including oral contraceptives and prenatal vitamins at a cost ranging from $3 to a maximum of $15 per covered prescription. The insurance pays the balance of the cost of the medications. Your out-of-pocket cost varies, but will not exceed a maximum of $15 per covered prescription. Each individual or family member on the plan will have a maximum benefit of $150 per person and $450 per family, per month. The yearly maximum benefit for each individual is $1,800 and $5,400 per family. Name brand prescriptions will be discounted at participating walk-in pharmacies.

Exclusions and Limitations

What benefits are not covered? No benefits shall be payable under this Plan for the following:

1. All new first year generic drugs.
2. Drugs covered under Workers’ Compensation unless otherwise indicated.
3. Experimental or investigational medications.
4. Medication administered by a healthcare provider or charges for the administration of such drug.
5. Medications administered while in a hospital or other care facility.
6. Medications that are used in research trials sponsored by their manufacturers or a government
7. Medications or services furnished in a research trial, if the sponsor of the research trial furnishes the drugs or services without charge to any participant in the research trial.
8. Medications that do not require a prescription.
9. Medications that are not prescribed in writing or verbally by a physician.

The name brand max-pay program is not insurance, although members can purchase 90-day supply of thousands of the most common name brand medications at dramatically reduced prices that compete with insurance co-pays. These prices are the result of international contracts that purchase name brand prescription drugs at a greatly reduced prices and pass the savings directly to you with fixed tiered max-pays.

Qualifications: Membership in NationalWay Healthcare Association (NWHA) is required to receive these benefits.  All costs of the association dues are included in the monthly cost of this plan.
